Pakistan Suicide Bomber

Perhaps as many as 90 civilians were killed by a suicide bomber in Pakistan at a volleyball tournament on New Year’s Day. The suicide (homicide)  bomber packed approximately 550 pounds of explosives into a crew cab pick-up and then drove it onto a sports field crowded with spectators where the volleyball tournament was being held.  Apparently the town was pro government and had recently driven out some Taliban militia. The attack may have been in retaliation.

Is this a pattern? Have the terrorists stepped it up or is our government less vigilant?

Leadership Take-away: A top priority for any government leader is the safety of their constituents. And a top priority of any good leader must be to keep their people secure. Though they may even complain at times, people want a leader who is mindful of their safety and security.

How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

Psalm 36:7

  1. Skimikaze,
No doubt your right, terrorist attacks by their nature are very difficult to defend against. Still, post 9/11, have we had uninvited guests at state dinners before 2009? That doesn’t inspire confidence. Seems like we’ve gotten a bit loose.

  2. I don’t think that the government is less vigilant; it is almost impossible to stop terrorist attacks from occurring. I think that homeland security is doing a great job on securing America; however, it’s still only a matter of time until we see more attempts of these suicide bombers in America.
